Baking cuttlebone for calcium?

Can I bake cuttlebone? I decided to scrap a bit and make it into a powder to put into my chinchilla cookie mix. I wanted to add calcium to combat the oat flour I used. I know you don't have too, but the chins were not using their cuttlebone and I don't have alfalfa on me right now. Was this a good idea, or did I do something very bad?
