Rehoming chinchilla(Long island)

As much as it pains me to do so atm we are unable to properly care for my make chinchilla due to budgetary problems. If you are in the Long Island area feel free to message me. I’ve had the little guy for about 2 years. He’s been fed on oxbow Timothy hay and oxbow essentials chinchilla food

Is this safe?

I got this from Zoey and Lilo’s toy box but it has something that looks like string on it. Is it ok to use?

After talking to the breeder and considering if I want to cage my chins separately or together, I've decided I'm going to try to bond them and then hopefully have them live in the same cage together once they're bonded. Should I get two of everything (food bowls, wheels, water bottles, huts) so that they don't fight over stuff?

My chinchilla only drinks a few mls of water a day and his poos are a bit small. Besides tap and bottled water is there any other type of water I can try? He is happy and otherwise healthy.

Chewsiph has done this off and on since forever ( 8 years old, had him 7 years ). He's my only son but he gets a lot of attention, always.
He likes to chew his fur on his right hip / butt area and sometimes starts on the left side too. He doesn't chew /pluck to a point of sores or anything, just looks like a really, really bad hair cut.

Hi,
My 15 yo female has struggled for a few months on and off with small dry poops. As a side note, she lost her sister at the time this started. I’m sure she’s missing her despite extra attention TLC.
She started hunching when pooping and looking really unhappy, although eating, drinking, behaving normally. I took her to the vet Thursday. Vet did x-rays, bloodwork, and sent off a culture.

How quickly do chinchillas pass/digest thiings?

Mr B made some strange poops today, they are kind of soft, misshapen, and little bit of it is even gummy, like... a booger. I'm wonder if this is him passing a piece of duck tape from last week (he got a piece and chewed on part of it over night :/ ), or if its the dried nettle leaf he ate yesterday.

Breeding and size of chinchillas

When you are breeding 2 chinchillas, does the size matter? Can the male be larger than the female? Also can you put 1 male in a cage with 2 females? Will he mate with both? The male is unrelated to the females.

Should I bring my chin to an introduction?

I'm thinking of getting another male chinchilla so Mr. B will have some company!

On chincare.com I read that it's good to bring the other Chinchilla so that you can ensure it gets along with the new one? Does anyone have any experience doing this? Do I just let them sniff each other through the cage? There was no specific info on what to do.

I purchased a 5lb box of timothy through Amazon, Farm to Pet, said it is second cut but looks more like first cut and my chins will not touch it. They are used to third and second cut. If anyone lives in the Fairfield, NJ area and would like it, just let me know. Or if anyone knows of a shelter that has smalls in this area, please let me know. Thanks!

Chin sounds like coughing

Hi, I noticed my chins coughs after his dustbath. First question is this normal, he has been doing this for awhile now? Second question, he is now making the same noise tonight just sitting on my lap but he is eating, pooping running around, any ideas ? Thanks

Fur slip during introductions

So I have 2 chinchillas (a boy and a girl - the girl is spayed bc she had an infection) and today was their first proper introduction. I put them in a new room with new toys, some treats and both their clean dust baths.

Hi guys I just got my chinchillas a few days ago and her feet have red open pads. Is it bumble foot? They get dust baths every other day, they have aspen bedding, a bunch of wooden ledges and houses, no plastic, and a solid surface 15” metal wheel. What could be causing this? What do i do?

Foot chewing

Hello!

I was just petting my chin and noticed something about her foot. She has a small bald patch on it, that I never remember seeing. It isn't a wound, and there is no blood or a scab, but the hair is gone. It's only on one foot, and isn't that big, but I know that fur chewing can be a big problem for chins.

She gets a lot of monitored playtime, has a lot of chew toys, water, hay, and food, so I don't know what could be causing it.

Does anyone know what this could be? Or do you have...

Taking a chinchilla out of it's "house"

I remember reading somewhere (I forget which website), that it's not good to take a chinchilla out of it's little house/hut thingie when it runs in there, because that's their "safe space". You should try to pick it up/get the chinchilla when it's not in its house/hut. Does anyone have an opinion of that?

When I come to get Mr. B out of his cage for playtime he always tries to hide in one of his 2 little huts. He does get pretty defensive when he's in his hut and I'm trying to catch him...
