So we took penny to the vet today for her first check up and we found out she is indeed a he! We have decided to keep the name as he seems to respond it and I don't want to confuse him. Pretty annoyed at pets at home for giving us the wrong info about her gender. Luckily he wasn't put in with another chin. Other than that he got a clean bill of health which makes me very happy :-)
