Oldest virgin female bred

I have a 6/7 y.o female chin that has never been housed with another chin due to her getting picked on. All her life she has had a Degu for a cage mate. Sadly her cage mate died and I am looking at getting a young chin to see if she will accept it for a cage mate. I have been told that since she is so old and has never bred she won't breed if I get her a young/baby male. Is this true? I have been looking for another degu but am having problems finding one that she likes. Any ideas to help her from being so lonely? thanks
