Hy, I'm the parent of two: Alice (~4 y/o) and Ida (~5 months). The little one arrived about 2 months ago (from a farm though, they aren't related). She's adjusting just fine, they already live together, everything went fine in introducing them. She also eats and sleeps well. She started off with pellets and hay, now she eats what Alice eats (probably the best quality available here: Vitakraft and Versele-Laga). However, what concerns me is that her poops are somehow still soft and moist and her genitals seem to be always wet too. Evenings, I usually clean them with wet cotton buds, but it always comes back. Should I be very concerned?
Some factors worth mentioning:
- otherwise she seems fine, she's playful and active.
- she always gets hay too, though she doesn't seem to be a big fan of it (I've already tried more brands). She eats some, but not a lot. Lately I've been putting some chamomile buds in her hay, that she enjoys.
- summer here is pretty hot outside (about 30 C / 86 F), however, during the day, I always put cooler blocks around them.
- my chins only get boiled water, never from the tap. Every 3-4 weeks, I give the some tea.
- she almost never gets ANY sweets, in two months, I've fed her maybe 3 raisins and an almond.
- I've already tried feeding her pellets and hay only, but now that she lives together with Alice, the latter would rather die starving than survive on pellets and hay. I can't separate their food, the little one is very nosy, she always eats first and picks out the good ones.
So I've been thinking: is it just a phase or something serious? Chins are not very common in my country, that's why a vet is not my first option, though it is on my list, if impossible to avoid.
Thanks, and greetings:
Alice, Ida and myself
