How often do you give your chinchilla pellets? I do in the morning and evening, but is that too often or not often enough? I feed them hay 24/7. They also seem to leave a ton of hay at the bottom of the cage; they drop it down from the feeder thing after smelling it. Is this normal? They only eat the "flat" pieces of hay, not the cylindrical ones.
Okay, so I heard that you aren't supposed to give your chinchilla tap water. I give them purified water. I buy the nursery kind with some added minerals. I haven't noticed any problems with my chinchillas, but is this safe?? They drink a normal amount. I never thought about it until now that it could be too many minerals that they don't need. Please help
