Okay I'll try and keep this brief !
We recently purchased our first hedgie (Kippin) a few weeks ago and he's wonderful, loving and settling in fine.
We also have the loft converted into 4 chinchilla open enclosures, which there is currently a cage of 3, 2, 2 and 1.
Yesterday we took him to the vets for a health check and because he was scratching a bit - vet rang today to say that they found a mite under a microscope from the scraping sample they took from him.
Today has been a day of boiling all equipment , bedding and cleaning overall before treatment begins tomorrow.
What we havent been able to establish is our contact with the chins upstairs - can the mites transfer to our carpet , clothes and make it up and infect the chins.
Does it also mean that we have to keep cleaning the carpets , sofa (how to wash this too!?) , stairs up to the chins and boil all our clothes to avoid infecting everyone in the loft (or recontamination of Kippin)........
Please and thank you for advice.
