We took our 7 year old girl Chi Chi to the vet yesterday when we noticed she was having trouble with her back legs. The good news no broken bones or no constipation/blockage.
The bad news, she has a degenerating disk in her spine. Only one. So we are feeding her Critical Care and the vet prescribed to her Meloxicam. It's only day two, so I am trying to be optimistic. But I am also really scared. Her movement is a struggle, she steers with her front paws and is dragging her hindquarters. And she does grind her teeth from time to time.
Now the vet didn't see anything to think she shouldn't recover, but like I say I am scared because her movement does seem so hard for her now. And she has began to grind her teeth a bit. Has anyone had a similar experience? Does anyone know how long for the meds to bring some relief?
