On July 1st, 2015, a chinchilla I rescued from a rescue a month earlier gave birth to three little babies. She had two girls and one boy. As of 8/18/2015 (7 weeks old), the boy is 213 grams, one girl (black) is 197 grams, and the other girl (black and white) is 184 grams. I don't want the boy to breed with his mom or sisters so can I wean him off of mom at 7 weeks? As for the girls, we are keeping the black and white one (the smallest of them all) but I don't know if I can wean the black girl off yet (because she is under 200 grams). When I wean them off, can I have the cages near mom so they can communicate and not get lonely? How long should I keep them after weaning?
