So today is 1 week since I got my baby boy. :dance3: He's starting to warm up and get comfortable in his new surroundings (although I don't understand why he let me hold him at the breeders just a week ago but not now).
He undoubtedly has his own personality and I know when he's happy or tired. He's never barked or tried to bite so I'm happy for that. Although one time when I was messing with him trying to pet him (I admit that I was probably spending too much time bothering him but it's hard to catch him when he's awake), he pushed my hand away with both paws *so cute* and I got the hint (duh).
I have noticed that I'm going to have to remove my nail polish and file down my sorta longish nails (I have natural nails with acrylic overlay) because he keeps biting on them thinking they're treats because I sometimes hand feed him twigs and pellets. I'm kinda bummed about this cuz I have short stubby fingers :( but oh well..he's so worth it. I don't want him to get sick from the acrylic or polish.
Another thing I've noticed is the poos. OMG, the amount of poos!!!! And they're bigger than I thought they'd be for such a lil guy :) I wait till they're dried up like tic tacs and sweep em away. He's really intrigued by the mini broom and dustpan I use..lol.
I've let him out to play 3 times now for 5 minutes each time. I thought it would help our bonding since the way I let him out is for him to climb into my hand, up my arm, sit on my shoulder and then I sit on the floor and he runs back down and off my hand. I think I created a monster tho because every time I walk past his cage, he runs to the bars and kind of begs and when I change his hay or food, he ALWAYS trys to run up my arms and look for a way down to the floor. It seems he's not interested in me but simply getting out and about.
It's gotten to the point that the last time he was out, he was so excited that he wouldn't get into his dust bath for me to get him back into the cage so I had to kind of stress him when I picked him up. I think I'm going to pull back on the outside cage time for a bit, till he's a little more used to being picked up.....hopefully I can resist his attempts and that cute little baby face!!!! ;)
