Hi All,

We noted a small but weird lump on Chino's belly. He had not objected when I lightly touched it so I guess it doesn't hurt (much?). No noticeable deterioration in his mood / behavior / eating / weight. Lately his brother is chasing him all over the cage (two story critter nation with lots of shelves, two houses and a wheel)., but it does not look like a chinchilla bite... more like an insect bite. Thought I'd pose some photos of my new chubby chonker chin, Gus gus! Named after the lil fat brown mouse in Cinderella.

He's about 6 months old now. Loves the little wheatie things in the timothy hay and apple sticks! Oxbow critical care - Apple Banana?

Hello everybody!

I was wondering if anybody knew why it's impossible to find Oxbow's Apple Banana-flavored critical care?

I'm lucky that Kumo will eat Anise flavored (although not as eagerly) but he likes the Apple-Banana so much and he's been bouncing back so well from how weak and lethargic he was that I hate switching it up on him.

If anybody knows where to find some Apple-Banana, I'd be so grateful if you point me that way!

My chin is making small noises from his nose I think

It started a few weeks ago and I thought nothing of it. He is still drinking and eating normally, normal poops. I did have to separate him form his mate since she was eating all the food. He seems lighter and a little skinnier since then and not as active. He makes strange sounds that sound like it comes form his nose. Like its stuffed, almost like a small squeak from his nose. Chinchilla eye

Can someone know what this might be?

My little chinchilla had closed eyes a few days after birth. We took it to vet and they told us to clean her eyes and drop few drops of tobrex eye drops. Few days later she open her eyes but then she could not close one eye. We found another vet and he gave us some eye serum and said to give chinchilla few drops every two hours.
After a few days eye looks like that.

Triple Ferret Nation Cages

I have each of my chinchillas in a double ferret nation and I’m considering adding a 3rd unit.

Is 3 floors too many for chins?
If I did give each chin a 3rd unit how shall I go about spreading their water bottles and food out.
example:
Unit 1: oxbow pellets
Middle unit: water bottle
Top unit: hay feeder

In a previous post I addressed my chinny (Koji) possibly having ringworm. I went to the vet and they gave me BioHex Shampoo (chlorhexidine/miconazole) to be applied once daily to the affected areas after fur is wetted , left to soak for 10 min, and then rinsed after application. I have been doing just that, making sure to blow dry (on cool) him after each application.

Loss of fur around nose

My chinchilla loss fur around nose and he keeps on scratching non stop around it an it sounds like he has a stuffy nose when he breaths. Has anyone had this happen to their chin , let me know cause I’m worried and doctor won’t be in till tomorrow morning

Hi everybody, I have two chinchillas and one had her eye removed several years ago after it got infected. I adopted her a few months ago and have been flushing out where her eye was every few days or so. Everything has been normal. Today she was acting normal but I opened her eye lid and soooo much white ooz came out (a never ending amount) I don’t know what happened!! My Momo passed on my stomach on 11/5/2020 at 7:02pm. She was 6 years old. She had teeth problem and stop her from eating. At the time I got her to the doctor, she was at 340g. She was too weak to recover from the surgery. I wish I could notice her teeth problem earlier.

I am at a painful crossroads and could use some advice from experienced owners.

My almost 12 yo Kumo had an ultrasound yesterday because he'd not been feeling like himself. The vet found a lesion in his liver that they suspect could be one of 3 things: a hematoma, a liver abscess, or a tumor. Obviously, 2 of those 3 things are scary and potentially dangerous.

Hello, I am a brand new owner of a chinchilla (Koji) and I suspect he may have ringworm From the photos, can anyone confirm or deny my suspicions (one shows his unaffected eye and the other his affected eye)? Chinchilla with swollen finger

Hi all, my chinchilla has a swollen finger on his right paw and he is favouring this paw by holding it up when he rests. I'm not sure how or when he got injured but I'm guessing he could have gotten it caught/sprained as I couldnt see any open wounds or cuts on this finger.
